What Gene Tech adds
Gene Tech is a new progression layer introduced with the Frozen Expedition event. It grants permanent-style ability bonuses that apply during Expedition battles, Guild Boss attempts, and some guild PvP contexts. Think of it as guild-shared tech that amplifies roles you already built in campaign — not a replacement for heroes or towers.
Before unlocking Gene Tech, read the Frozen Expedition guide for season timing and eligibility. Gene Tech mats come primarily from Expedition monster clears, city holdings, and event milestones.
Branch priorities by account type
Carry-first accounts: If campaign timers fail, invest Gene Tech into attack percent, skill damage, or night-wave clear bonuses before guild utility nodes. Align with your main hero from the tier list — Cole-style DPS wants different nodes than Mir-style control.
Guild support accounts: If your roster is already stable, guild-wide nodes that boost boss damage or city defense return more value to the whole team. Coordinate with officers so five members do not all max the same personal branch.
Hybrid path: Unlock one personal carry node, one guild utility node, then alternate. This prevents overspending on solo power while your guild loses map control.
Spending order during week one
Week one of Expedition: unlock the cheapest node in your role branch to test combat feel before committing rare mats. Do not max a branch based on patch notes alone — run at least three monster camps and one Arena scrim.
Save premium Gene Tech currency for mid-season double-reward windows if the event calendar announces them. Claim gift codes and event login rewards before buying packs.
If you are below Stage 20, ignore Gene Tech entirely and return after campaign unlock. Early mats are better spent on towers via the tower defense guide.
Common Gene Tech mistakes
Spreading one level across every branch — none reach breakpoint bonuses. Pick two branches maximum per season.
Maxing PvP-only nodes when your guild still loses monster camps — PvE branches fund everything else.
Ignoring guild chat coordination and duplicating nodes three other members already maxed.
Chasing cosmetic Gene Tech skins before core combat nodes — skins do not fix timer losses in campaign.
